Lesson 38: 4 Unconventional Writing Habits Helped Me Become A Better Writer
And increased productivity by 37x
Hello, my beautiful people,
I am almost coming to the end of this series Side-Hustle School.
It's been nearly a year since I started this series with the intention to publish 10 articles.
But with time, I realized I have so much more to say.
I still want to continue and share my writing process and journey, however, in a different way.
So don't be bummed, you will receive my other weekly newsletter here on Part-Time Creator and LinkedIn.
I have been writing for two years now, and I still think I am a beginner.
But these four beginner-friendly habits will help you increase your output significantly.
1. Creating a task list before ending the day
Before I close my day, I usually sit down for 5 minutes to write down 4-5 high-priority things I need to get done the next day.
It's more to keep the list precise to focus on the right things.
It may look like a tedious task, but it's not.
This practice helps you prepare for the next day better.
2. Edit and publish the next day
When I started writing, I used to edit for days before I settled down on publishing.
I wanted my draft to be perfect.
I learned that you learn by sharing your work.
You don't need to wait for it to be perfect all the time.
The probability is it would never be perfect.
You can't get better until you put your work on display.
Sometimes the critique will hurt, but it will only make you stronger.
This is the easy framework that can help you fast-track your editing and improve your writing quality.
3. Engineer your way up
I like to use scamper and mind-mapping documentation techniques to work toward my articles.
It keeps me stay focused and creates a compelling storyline.
Sometimes my writing becomes too long, so mind-mapping helps me jot down key points for my articles.
It can be a game-changer to improve the quality of your draft and give a nice structure to it.
Keep your writing concise and articulate with an outline.
4. Flow state helps to write more in a short time
I do my best writing in a flow state.
When you are in a flow state, your writing will come naturally.
You will not feel tired, and you can write for longer hours as well without dipping in your overall productivity and quality.
Read here how I am learning to be in a flow state.
Find your way and what helps to be in a flow state.
Below are some things you can do:
Write 10 headlines every day
Write 1 outline for your headlines
Edit the first day and publish the next day
Relax your mind and body to get into a flow state.
Be Bold
Be Courageous
Be Your Best
That’s all for today. Share this newsletter with your friends and anybody you feel would enjoy it.
See you next week.
Have a lovely day❤️
Love,
Ankita
