This is How I Boost My Creativity
Simple Ways to Achieve Healthier and Happier Life
Have you ever wondered if creativity is something you're born with or if it's a skill you can cultivate over time?
I've often found myself asking this very question, especially when I see people around me—some who seem to have a natural flair for creativity and others who struggle despite their best efforts.
For a long time, I thought creativity was something innate, a trait you either had or didn't.
But as I navigated through life, I realized that creativity isn't just a gift bestowed upon a lucky few—it's something we all possess in different forms.
I believe that everyone can be creative.
I was particularly inspired by Keith Sawyer, a research psychologist and author of Zig Zag: The Surprising Path to Greater Creativity. He talks about how creativity isn't a straight path but rather a series of steps, twists, and turns that can guide us in the right direction.
Here are a few ways I’ve found to spark creativity in my own life—ways that have made me more engaged, more curious, and ultimately more fulfilled.
Embrace the Unknown
One of the biggest blocks to creativity is the fear of the unknown.
I used to shy away from trying new things because I was afraid of failing or looking foolish.
But the more I allowed myself to step into unfamiliar territory, the more I realized that the unknown is where creativity thrives.
Whether it’s trying a new recipe or taking up a hobby I know nothing about, I’ve learned to embrace the uncertainty.
It’s in these moments of vulnerability that my creativity truly blossoms.
Cultivate Curiosity
Curiosity is the fuel for creativity. I’ve made it a habit to ask questions, not just of others, but of myself as well.
Why do I do things a certain way?
What if I tried something different? How can I make this task more enjoyable?
I’ve opened myself up to new perspectives and ideas that I would have otherwise overlooked.
It’s a simple practice, but one that has profoundly impacted my life.
Creativity isn’t just a genetic trait that some people are lucky enough to have. It’s something that we can all cultivate in our daily lives, in small and simple ways.
If I can do it, so can you.
Creativity is not just about what you create—it’s about how you live your life.
So go ahead, take that first step, and watch as your creativity—and your life—flourish.
That’s it for today.
