Hello friend,
Yesterday I had an interesting conversation with a friend.
And something occurred to me out of the blue.
Maybe I have known it forever however, it never made sense to me.
You see most people are not happy enough, content enough.
They are tired, overwhelmed, and under tremendous pressure to reach on top of the career ladder.
And very few are calm and enjoying what they do.
Hoping when you reach a certain level at work your life becomes easy, and you will earn more money.
But what nobody tells you is how much extra work you have to do under high pressure. You need to be available around the clock.
Tbh, none of this is fun.
And I want to tell you why it’s making sense to me.
The carrot and the stick
For years, I thought success lies in climbing the ladder and reaching the highest title.
I worked long hours, and weekends, took extra responsibilities, learned new skills quickly, barely took time off and was competitive.
Because that's a sure-shot way to reach on top.
I didn’t even know anything else.
Also because that’s what everyone else said, I fell into the line.
It was to manage.
To lead.
To be the best.
I wanted everything.
Today, my ambitions are incredibly different.
What are you going to choose?
You get to pick and choose how to design and live your life.
Maybe you want to climb the ladder and be on top.
OR
Do something you love, take adequate time off, and live your life NOW.
OR
Maybe you don't want either.
All are equally valid choices.
Be honest with yourself.
You can skip the line and build something you enjoy.
It’s going to be slow
Sometimes you will be uninspired.
But for anything else in life, you need to show up and keep going.
And if you stick long enough there is an unbelievable upside.
And that’s what I am hoping for it.
And you should too.
Be Bold
Be Courageous
Be Your Best
