Lesson 35: This Is How I Am Able To Write 5 Articles Per Week
Steal them to get ahead
Hello friend,
When I started The Side-Hustle School Series, I planned to share 10 articles only.
I didn’t know I would still be here almost a year later.
I still love my writing routine and am always excited to share every week’s lesson.
It’s only now I realize what successful creators were talking about.
All those people that told you to just focus on SHOWING UP and forget the metrics.
Now, I get it and what they meant.
I’ve made it to DAY 300 writing for The Side Hustle Series.
Let me show you how you do it, too.
I don’t use ChatGPT
TBH, I don’t have anything against it.
It seems incredible and pretty cool.
But I think I don’t have enough brain capacity to debate on this topic.
I like my writing process, and a little writing routine I have for myself.
I like the struggle, I like scratching my head, and thinking of new ways to write, all of that.
And the most important thing is it never gets to live my life, so not sure if it can say what I want to say.
Writing outlines for my week’s content
On weekends, I write the outlines for my next week’s articles and blog posts.
I spent 3-4 hours writing the rough drafts that I am going to edit and publish during the week.
Every article starts with an outline.
Each article has a draft heading and a few sections where I ideate to create a storyline on what I am trying to say.
This is my starting point.
I do the edits the next day
I don’t write and edit on the same day. Many writers write and edit on the same day.
But somehow it never works for me.
I like to let my draft be just like that for a day or two to revisit and look at with fresh eyes.
I realize, whatever I write, needs some breathing time and I need to step away from it for a while.
Instead, I write on day 1 and edit on day 2.
Stop looking for perfection
There was a time when I will not publish my articles and require them to be one percent perfect because something is not settling with me.
But it left me burned out, decreased my productivity, and I stayed stuck with one article for longer than necessary.
Now I stopped looking for perfection.
If it’s neat and conveys what I want to say, I publish it.
I don’t worry about perfection because I know I’ll be editing the articles in the next day or so.
This has done wonders for my productivity and increased the volume of articles I managed to publish so far.
Lastly-
I know I have to write.
And I choose to write because it’s fun for me.
Nothing else genuinely makes me happy at this time.
With this thought, I don't mind pushing my boundaries and trying new things with my writing.
So if you want to write, my only advice would be to sit and write.
There is no greater joy than sharing your stories with the world.
