Lesson 30: The *Real* Reason Why You Haven’t Found Your Passion Yet
It comes from focusing on what excites you.
Hello friend,

Today we will talk about passion and why many people haven’t figured it out yet.
While growing up, I wanted to be a Scientist. After I finish college, I want to become a Researcher.
I would have never imagined myself becoming a writer for sure.
Sharing my thoughts publically has never been my strength, especially through writing.
And another part of my English vocabulary wasn't good enough to start writing.
The motivators
You always aspire to become what you see people and what other people around you are doing.
If your parents are doctors or lawyers, there is pretty much a chance you are also going to pick something in a similar field.
But as you start growing up, you define what you like doing and what you enjoy.
I’ve come to think that ‘finding your thing’ is more about allowing yourself to flow.
There are things, I don’t know how many but I’m willing to bet there are things that light you up.
You can make anything your passion
The thing is you can make anything your passion if you're willing to put in enough reps and start enjoying the process of doing something.
There will be times you will fail, and get rejected, but despite all the setbacks, you still manage to put your step forward.
It’s not about reaching the mountaintop but being willing to put one step after another.
Make curiosity your friend
Whenever you’re told to “follow your passion”. It can be very intimidating, and it can be very confusing because sometimes passion isn’t very clear, and sometimes passions burn hot and then burn out.
Sometimes your passion changes, and sometimes on a very sad Tuesday morning when you didn’t sleep well, the idea of passion just feels so out of reach that you can’t even imagine ever accessing it.
Keep an open and free mind to observe more and process the things that mean something to you.
Set some free time and unleash yourself from the round-the-clock productive cycle.
Find time to relax and give your brain a break.
That is how you take a curiosity and turn it into a passion.
The motivation you seek comes from the actions you take.
We have to accept the fact that you won’t always feel as fired up as we did in the beginning.
But choosing to put in the work despite how you are feeling is what separates you from where you are now and from the future version of you.
It’s just a little bit of action every day that can make all the difference.
All you need to do is develop a routine and consistent habits.
What I wished someone had told me
I haven’t found my passion because no one asked me. I wish someone asked me this sooner
“Ankita, what do you like doing?”
I would have said: I like puzzles, patterns, and systems, I love reading history, I enjoy creating arts, I enjoy solving complex problems, building systems, and above all I like learning.
I spend all my time thinking and imagining how I can make an impact.
All of those things could have been my career.
But instead, I took the path that seems to be the safest and most certain.
