Lesson 17: How to Meticulously Plan Your Side-Hustle Routine
You’re Not Busy. You’re Just Unorganized.
Hello there,
How are you?
If you know me personally and from my writing, you may have understood that I am a planner.
I like to plan everything from morning to night.
My house is filled with task lists, timetables, and action items.
It’s part of my personality and who I am ( and I am okay with it).
I am more fun this way. I recently purchased neatly organized notebooks so I could plan better. :)
My usual plan in terms of writing every week goes something like this:
1- Publish 2-3 articles on Medium
2- Send out Part-time Creator and Side-Hustle newsletters
3- Post 10-50 words every day on LinkedIn.
Some days I don’t reach my goals but that’s okay. Because I want to enjoy the process of creating rather than dead beating myself.
So if you are in the same boat and want to work on your side hustle, it makes sense to create a workable tiny plan to build consistency and habit.
1. Dedicate a time and a place to practice your side hustle
Instead of spending all that time thinking, schedule your calendar just like any other important thing.
Writing down your goals for the week:
If you want to write an article today, get writing.
If you want to brainstorm something, start researching.
If you want to dump down ideas, keep a running list to add wherever you are.
Get to work.
Write the outline, write the headline, do the research, and build your first draft.
2. Take action
Daydreaming is good and planning zillions of things is easy. Because you are not doing it in reality.
As long as I promote planning, the best aspect is taking action on your plan towards your active action items.
A plan without action is useless.
With each action, attach an expected outcome to make sure you know what you are going to gain.
Else you will spend hours doing something without exactly knowing what to expect at the end.
Having an action against your goal is the holy grail of productivity.
Everything else is just noise.
3. Doodle your way to create unique stuff
This is something I have started recently.
I learned a concept to doodle your thoughts and what you want to say.
Not in the words specifically but through pictures, images, and some abstracts.
It can help you to unlock your creative zones and can give you the freedom to explore beyond normal ways.
So practice your craft as much as you can and have fun while it lasts.
What do you think, share in the comments?
Love,
Ankita
