#15: 2 Years of Creating Alongside My Full-Time Job
What it takes to write online?
Hello friend,
When I started writing online two years back, I had zero idea how to write effectively in the digital space.
On top of that, I didn't know anyone who could offer suggestions, share tips, or tricks on writing online and producing amazing content.
Being a beginner was an absolute fun, though.
I had no pressure to experiment, write whatever I wanted, and embrace the opportunity to fail – because why not?
It taught me so much, and now it's my turn to teach others how they can do it too.
Even now, I feel there is so much more to learn and explore, and this newsletter is one of the ways for me to
educate
improve your skills
and help others find their true calling.
Here are a few ideas and thoughts if you're just getting started with creating content online:
Start today and figure out the rest later.
Waiting for the right time is a waste, as the right time is today and now.
It doesn't matter if you don't have a content strategy or the perfect platform.
The best way to learn is by taking action.
Perfection is overrated.
Your first 100 pieces are going to be far from perfect, and that's okay.
Looking back at my first blog post or the 100th, I can certainly write them better today or come up with better headlines.
But that's part of retrospectives, isn't it?
In hindsight, everything can be done better, and that's how we grow and learn.
Even if you think you're not good enough or may seem like an excellent creator, remember this:
create more,
learn more, and
teach more.
The best content strategy you can ever find is to learn to enjoy the craft.
As much as I love writing, I don't enjoy editing and proofreading that much.
However, I understand that it's an integral part of the creative process, and I must learn to find ways to enjoy it.
Writing online is a long game; there are no shortcuts or easy quick wins.
I'm here to stay and intend to continue writing for many more years.
To work on your craft, you need time and practice.
Show up every day, even on the bad days.
It'll take years to get good enough, but even if you haven't figured out if you want to write full time, have fun and enjoy the process of creating.
It's a journey, just like everything else in life.
Experiment, fail, learn, and repeat.
The biggest lesson I've learned in my two-year journey of writing alongside my day job is to have fun and enjoy the process.
Whatever your plans are for the future, make sure to enjoy yourself along the way.
Embrace the writing routine and take pleasure in the growth it brings.
Don’t live to work.
Work to live.
Thank you for joining me on this exciting journey, and I look forward to sharing more insights and experiences in the future.
Happy writing!
